Larissa Waldie (formerly Larissa Lorenz) is a dynamic dramatic soprano and passionate music educator dedicated to enriching the Bay Area’s musical landscape.
With a powerful voice and an unwavering commitment to opera, Mrs. Waldie has become a vital force in bringing this beautiful art form to new audiences. She meticulously coordinates, hosts, and performs in engaging opera outreach programs for schools, senior living communities, and public events, ensuring that the magic of opera is accessible to all.
Beyond the stage, Mrs. Waldie is a highly sought-after voice and piano teacher at her private Santa Rosa studio and at Music to My Ears in Cotati. She believes in cultivating a strong, healthy technique while nurturing each student’s individual voice and fostering an enduring love for music that lasts a lifetime. Her teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and inspiring environment where students can discover their unique sound and build lasting confidence.
Mrs. Waldie extends her dedication to music education through her community involvement. She is a co-founder and Musical Director for Up Street Music Patrons, a nonprofit committed to “funding music education, providing musical opportunities to adults and children for personal and cultural enrichment.” She is also a board member of NATS (the National Association of Teachers of Singing) Redwood Branch, reflecting her commitment to professional excellence in vocal instruction and outreach.
As a performer, Mrs. Waldie has graced the stages of numerous Bay Area opera companies, including Goat Hall Productions, Pocket Opera Company, The North Bay Stage Company, East Bay Musical Chairs, the Jarvis Conservatory, and Verismo Opera Company. She is also a distinguished soloist for concerts and churches throughout the North Bay, captivating audiences with her commanding stage presence and expressive artistry.
